A little room for a good idea.

  1. Make a phrase. Choose a track. Click drum steps, draw synth notes, or play with A S D F G H J K L. Grid notes follow your key and scale. Switch to Draw for a free curve that glides between destinations in your key and scale. Each synth keeps both phrases; only the selected mode plays.
  2. Find its character. Choose a sound and turn Tone, Color, Motion and Grit. Use Monitor to hear edits, then open Envelope to shape attack, decay, sustain and release. Motion can move pitch, filter or volume. Each track keeps its own edits.
  3. Put it on tape. Arm the tape lanes you want to capture, then press the red record button. Armed instruments record together into separate lanes. Live waveforms show the captured sound. One loop finishes at the grid boundary, then switches to Tape at the first beat. Pause also pauses recording; Play resumes without recording the paused time. Continuous overdub keeps layering until you stop.
  4. Move things around. Select a take to split, lift, drop, duplicate or join it. Drag takes to move them. Delete removes a highlighted take; undo brings it back. Click empty tape to move the playhead. Undo is always nearby.
  5. Play the tape. Choose a loop and listen to your recorded takes. Tempo moves the tape, grid and phrases together. Changing tempo changes recorded pitch and time. Key and scale changes retune Monitor phrases; recorded tape keeps its printed sound.

Grid holds stepped notes. Draw holds continuous pitch curves. Both can be recorded to tape. Tape is recorded audio. Tape (Space) plays recorded audio only. Tape and Monitor choose what you hear beside the transport controls. Tap Monitor from stopped to start the enabled sequences. They share Play, Pause and Stop, and only one audio mode plays at a time. Space toggles Play/Pause from the same position. Stop turns playback off and returns to the first beat. Sequencer off stops its notes and play indicator, even when the track is armed. Recording monitors tape plus every armed instrument. Mute controls listening; armed instruments still record. Sound controls edit the instrument; recorded takes keep their printed sound. Mixer levels, solo and mute control the four matching tracks in Tape and Monitor. Multiple solos can play together; mute takes priority. Tape FX colors both Monitor and Tape playback with low pass, reverb, distortion and an era character. Era presets are creative interpretations of recording and playback styles. 2026 adds no era coloration. Bypass compares the original mix. Tape FX and mixer settings are included in WAV export and never overwrite your takes.
